Today’s reading is from the Divine Science Daily Studies by Divine Science minister and author Vernon A. Shields, 1920 - 2011.

KNOW THYSELF

We are here, not to ponder the limitations and perplexities of life, but to awaken to our real, limitless nature and to express ourselves at a higher level. In our daily affairs we are to bring more of God’s goodness into expression as greater confidence, courage, love, understanding, tranquility, and inner peace.

Awakened to this truth about himself, Walt Whitman wrote:

“From this hour I ordain myself loos’d of limits and imaginary lines.

I am larger, better than I thought, I did not know I held so much goodness.”

This basic Truth has been given to mankind over and over by every prophet, seer, and teacher in every age, and yet, it is so often ignored and overlooked. Emerson became aware of this truth about us and emphatically declared, “There are no bounds to the possibilities of man.” And James Allen, stressing this truth in his book, As a Man Thinketh, stated, “The vision that you glorify in your mind, the ideal that you enthrone in your heart—this you will build your life by, this you will become.”

Truly we are to know ourselves—not as what we have been or what we appear to be, but as we are in the Mind of God. We are expressions of the most High, or expressions of God-qualities, right where we are and at our level of understanding. To see ourselves and to know ourselves as we are seen and known by our Source, we must awaken to this fundamental Truth that we are divine, and then join spiritual hands with Walt Whitman in proclaiming: “I AM DIVINE, INSIDE AND OUT.”

Meditation - (Truth)

We will now go into meditation on Truth. I invite us to turn inward to our Holy Temple, that sacred place within us, and say, I acknowledge God as my very breath; the life giving breath. I breathe in the Divine Presence of God. Every breath gives life to every cell of my body, clears my thoughts, and strengthens my soul.

“Know the Truth and the truth shall set you free.” John 3:32

Divine Infinite Spirit of God is everywhere present meaning here, now, within me and everyone and all of creation visible and invisible. God is infinite knowledge, wisdom, understanding and is expressing intelligence through all of creation. God is the only power and it is good. This is the truth of who I am, therefore I have the capacity to be wise, loving and good.

This guiding force of love is flowing through me now.

This guiding force of wisdom is flowing through me now.

This guiding force of good is flowing through me now.

Knowing God’s presence within enriches every moment. I can see clearly now the good, the love and intelligence in all of creation; every person, every living species, our planet and entire universe. All is a beautiful, perfect masterpiece. I live in God’s symphony of life. (Silence)

As we bring our attention back from these moments in silent communion, let our hearts be filled with gratitude. With a full heart we say, Thank you, God. So it is, Amen!
