Today’s reading is written by Rev. Janet Friedline from the Divine Science Federation Daily Study. Titled: Spiritual Progress.

People tend to measure themselves according to their achievements and accomplishments. We look at what others have done, judging ourselves as either more successful or less successful than others. We set goals for ourselves, and then we look for evidence that they have been met. As we travel through life, we expect to progress in particular ways, and the anticipation is that we be satisfied with our progression. And so we watch ourselves closely, accounting for what we have done.

When it comes to our spiritual study, we also wish to see a degree of progress. We want to have evidence that we are on the spiritual path. But we aren’t quite sure how to evaluate ourselves in this way. When we measured ourselves according to material standards, we looked to the outer display for validation.

But how does one account for the fruit of the spirit? What is revealed inwardly are qualities of life – love, joy, harmony and peace. They cannot be measured or contained. Let us allow them to come forth and do their work.

Affirm: I do my spiritual study and trust in the outcome.

Meditation - Good

We will now go into meditation on Goodness. I invite us to turn inward to our Holy Temple, quiet our thoughts, and listen taking in these words.

The Divine Presence, Infinite Spirit - God within me washes away my lowly thoughts revealing the light of truth. I Am here... I Am love... I Am everywhere and I Am all that is... I Am One!

Each breath I take is the breath of God. I breathe in God, and I exhale God. It’s all God, and all is Good... God’s goodness is alive in me, here, everywhere and always. I am alive in this goodness of God here, everywhere and always.

God’s goodness in fills and surrounds me.

All of God’s creation is good, is beautiful, is intelligent, is love, and is the power of life. Our entire universe and beyond is God expressing itself; Divine ideas in manifest form; each and every one is a perfect expression, and is whole holy good, holy divine. And, I am One with it all, and it is all very good. (Silence)

As we bring our attention back let us feel the joy of gratitude for these moments in silent communion... With a full heart I say, Thank you, God. So it is, Amen!
