Today I’m sharing from the Divine Science Daily Studies volume II. This reading is written by Elizabeth S. Lamb.
“The ear that hears, the eye that sees, the Lord made them both.” Proverbs 20:12
Our lives are enriched if we learn to listen creatively, no less than when we learn to see in a new and creative way. Because there is so much sound in our world, we tend to take it for granted.
A musician friend of mind will not listen to music she loves unless she can sit quietly concentrating on it. We all can find joy in music if we really listen, absorbing, putting mind and spirit into it. Our ears need training in “hearing” pure sound. We clog the pathways to the brain and the heart with background sounds; music or bird song or the ocean’s murmur can hardley be comprehended.
“A note in music gains significance from the silences on either side.” wrote Anne Lindbergh in Gift from the Sea. This is true of our lives. We need to hear silence from time to time, for it is from the silences that the creative music of our lives issues. It is in the deep inner silence of our being that we receive spiritual harmony. AS we learn to listen inwardly there is new beauty in our lives.
I listen creatively for the sounds and silences of this day.
Meditation
We shall now move into a meditation on Creativity. Let us turn inward to our holy temple connecting mind and heart as one.
God, Omnipresent - infinite spirit present everywhere, God is Creator, Creative Action, and Creation. God is a conscious creative living presence that lives in through and as its creations. There is only God being expressed in all of creation. I being of God am a living conscious creation.
God is the life and creative impulse expressing through me. (Repeat)
Through the depths of silence I touch the artist, the creative spark within. Beauty comes alive; everywhere I look I see beauty in all of life. Joy comes alive; I see joy in all of life’s experiences. Love comes alive; I embrace and love all life. Inspiration comes alive; I have an all inspiring passion to express what is alive within me. I now be still in the silence.
Let us take a moment to let the joy of gratitude fill our hearts. Thank you Divine Presence for these moments of Oneness. So it is, Amen.
