Reading & Meditation (Beauty) by Rev. Dr. Christine 4/27/2025
My reading for today is by Rev. Dr. Harvey Hardman from the Divine Science Federation’s Daily Study.
Our lives become sodden and old, and gray and cold, for one reason only: we lose sight of the power of love and beauty. That, after all, was the supreme message of Jesus. He lifted life up out of its hard and fixed conventions and gave it new meaning. He was free from creed and dogma. He lived naturally and simply in the open. He loved flowers and trees and birds and children. He loved people, and he made love the supreme principle of his life and religion. In effect he said:
If you want to be spiritual, love.
If you desire happiness, love.
If you aspire to perfection and completeness of life, love.
Not an abstract love, but warm, living, vibrant, human love.
Thus shall you come to know God, who is Love; and because you love human beings, you shall love the God within them and in all things.
Life is eternal; it is only the form that changes, and if the forms of life did not change there could be no growth. Evolution would stop. The Wisdom of the Eternal teaces us, in nature and in human experience, that perpetual transformation is the very Law of Life, and that without it the universe would be stagnant, dead indeed, and that this world be the ultimate conceivable tragedy.
Affirm: I am life resurgent, eternally expanding.
Meditation -
We will now go into meditation on beauty. I invite us to turn inward to our Holy Temple, and quiet our thoughts and listen taking in these words.
God’s love is everywhere present. God’s love is all powerful and is the only true power. All of creation is God’s love in expression. God is the beauty and love I know and see. As an expression of God I too am love and express love, I too am beauty and express beauty.
The beauty of God’s love abides in me now and always. (Repeat)
Everywhere I look I see the beauty of God’s creation: the beautiful stars and planets in the night sky; colorful butterflies and birds flittering about; the array of spring flowers and trees blooming with new life; the green hills and snow capped mountains; every animal creature and every person is absolutely perfectly beautiful. Seeing through the eyes of love all I see is beauty surrounding me, and in all of God’s wondrous creation. (Silence)
As we bring our attention back let us feel the joy of gratitude for these moments in silent communion. So it is. Amen.
