Today is about opening up to our abundance. I’m going to begin with Bible verses that support prosperity as God’s idea - that God wants the best for us. Beginning with Luke 12:32, “It is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Psalm 34:10 “They that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing.”
Matt. 7:9-11, “Or who is the man among you, who when his son asks him for bread, will hand him a stone? Or if he should ask him for fish, will he hand him a snake? If therefore you who err, know how to give good gifts to your sons, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you; good measure shaken down and running over they will pour into your robe. For with the measure that you measure, it will be measured to you.”
2 Corinthians 9:6-7, “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows generously shall reap generously. So let every man give according to what he has decided in his mind, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Psalm 37:4, “Trust in the Lord; and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Gen. 22:14, “So Abraham called the name of that place The Lord will Provide: as it is said to this day, on this mountain, The Lord shall provide.”
John 16:24, “Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name: ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be full.”
Matt. 6:31-33, “therefore do not worry or say, what will we eat, or what will we drink, or with what will we be clothed? For worldly people seek after all these things. Your Father in heaven knows that all of these things are also necessary for you. But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.”
John 10:10, “I came that they may have more life, and have it abundantly.”
The above Bible verses are a sampling of promises for our abundant good. Over and over we are told to not worry, take no thought, and that God is our provider. Then why is there so much fear that there will not be enough in this world to go around? We say that God is the creator of our universe, world and everything, and yet so many people live in fear that there won’t be enough for them.
What keeps our good measure from us? It is in our belief system. It is all this fear that blocks our flow to true prosperity. The root of all fear is the belief in our separation from God - from our source. Fear encompasses worry, doubt, resentment, anger and unworthiness. These shut down our love energy, and love energy is the power to make us a magnet to attract our good to us.
What then gets rid of our blocks? Faith, gratitude, praise, joy, and giving are the activities that prime the pump for the bountiful endless flow of good into our life.
Let us begin with our Faith; having our trust in God, in our Oneness. We claim God as the source for all our abundance which covers every aspect of our life; wealth, health, work and relationships. We build our faith by daily practicing our spirituality through study, affirmations, prayer and meditation. We must therefore, remind ourselves constantly of our divine connection to our source, until the very idea is embodied within us.
Next is gratitude, in being grateful for all that we already have. We praise and give thanks for what we receive. Regardless how humble it might be, we praise and watch it grow. We praise everyday our source - God - Infinite Spirit for all the good in our life. We praise the multitude of God’s channels for bringing our good to us.
Having a joyful heart opens the flood gates. Everyday we let the joy flow from us into our family, our relationships, and the work we do. Everything is enriched when we bring our joy to it. Joy expands our creativity bringing forth new ideas and new ways of doing and being. Joy lifts our vibration to new levels.
Being a cheerful giver; we become a channel for God’s good to flow out to other people; we share our good by giving back to where we receive our spiritual nourishment. Its about truly being happy when paying our expenses and taxes, and thanking God that we have the funds to available to pay them. Being happy for the good other people have knowing there is plenty to go around - God’s channels are countless - God’s bountiful good is everywhere. We give our love, our joy, our time, and our compassion.
It’s also about being a joyful receiver because many people are actually uncomfortable with receiving. Have you ever heard back when having given a gift to someone “Oh you shouldn’t have” or “I can’t accept this from you.” They’re not even aware that in that moment of refusing to accept, not only are they making the giver feel wrong, they are closing off their own ability to receive. Instead learn to say “Thank you” with a smile, and the stuck energy will dissolve allowing the heart energy to flow.
From our text book, Divine Science Its Principle and Practice we are told, page 167: “Each student will need to repeat affirmations of Truth over and over again. Affirm the eternal principle as it is revealed. Recognize the verities of your own being or life. Accept the revelation; think and speak by its light. Be positive, be firm, and unwavering. Consciousness of truth will be your reward. Every hour of every day, yes, every moment, be on your guard to admit only the perfect good, to affirm the love-presence in everything.
Never give up. Until (false) beliefs disappear continue to speak the words of Truth. Assume the true position of a Son of God and express Truth in wholeness. All perfection that has been and that ever will be, is now. To recognize it is to realize it; to acknowledge it is to awaken to a sense of being it, which will enable us to speak the truth as it was in Jesus.
The Divine Scientist renders thanks unceasingly for good received, for knowledge gained, for health expressed, for truth perceived, for love manifested, for God revealed, for ever-present Goodness; for the awareness that they are one with the All-Good.” end of quotes.
I remind you that the words of truth are not the magic, but the words repeated aligns are consciousness with truth, builds our faith, and strengthens our confidence in our connection to our source. To knowing that our Source is continually providing, just as in the seven days of creation.
The following is from “The Prayer that Never Fails” by Nona Brooks:
“Our share in the treasures of the universe is unbounded; we possess only what our consciousness measures to us. “With what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again.” Jesus’ word is true of our relation to the Whole as well as to our human brothers and sisters. If we take to the limitless Ocean of supply a pint measure of consciousness, a pint will be all that we can dip from it.”
The following are some statements that Nona Brooks, used at the end of her daily meditation:
“I live in a universe that abounds; it shares itself with me.”
“This eternal, unchanging reality - is my constant supply.”
“I abound in every good; this is my unchanging reality.”
“My Father gives me His spirit without measure.”
“My Father does not measure to me His life; I have all the energy, wisdom, power, that I can use.”
“My Father does not measure to me his substance; I am supplied without limit.”
“I abound in all good.”
These are wonderful powerful affirmations of Truth. Say these or better yet, create your own and say them until they are part of your everyday consciousness. Then expect and watch your good come to you in so many different ways, and ways you never thought of before.
I’ll close with the following poem by Vivian Laramore:
Happy is the heart that sings!
Thanking God for little things,
Finding courage where a hill lifts it everlasting will,
Saying, when the night is dark,
Morning cometh, and the lark!
Happy is the heart that knows
Close communion with the rose,
Taking pleasure in the way God has clothed a summer day,
Saying when the clouds complain,
There’s a rainbow in the rain!
Let us affirm: God is so good to me. I am prospering in every good way. I am so ever grateful. Thank you God. So it is!
