“Let Your Light Shine” by Rev. Christine Emmerling D.D. 10/5/2025

The title of my talk today is Let Your Light Shine. This is about our energy field, our light body also known as our aura. In the bible there are references to halos, Moses face shining, Joseph’s colorful coat, Jesus’ seamless white robe and his transfiguration. All of these are terms referring to the glowing light that emanates from our body and surrounds it. Christ Jesus also spoke of this light people shine in the following verses:

Matt. 5:14-16, “You are indeed the light of the world; a city that is built upon a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, so that it gives light to all who are in the house.”

Luke 11:34-36 “The lamp of your body is your eye; when therefore your eye is bright, your whole body will also be lighted; but if it is diseased, your whole body will also be dark. Take heed, therefore, lest the light which is in you be darkness. If your whole body is lighted and there is no part in it dark, the whole of it will give light, just as a lamp gives you light with its shining.”

Matt. 17:2, “And Jesus was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes turned white like light.”

John 1:4-5, “The life was in him, and the life is the light of men. And the same light shines in darkness, and the darkness does not overcome it.” and in 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but he shall find for himself the light of life.”

Yes, we shall find for ourselves this light that shines forth ever so bright from within us. Those that have eyes to see, can see this light around objects, plants, and people. Everyone has the innate ability to see this light. It is just the refocusing of our attention from the world of matter to a world of Spirit Substance - a world of vibrant light.

All of God’s creations both animate and inanimate are of light, and shine this light based on their level of frequency. The light body reflects our thoughts, emotions and feelings. That is why dark thoughts; feelings of anger and fear will darken and diminish one’s aura. And thoughts based in spiritual truth, love, and peace will expand and brighten one’s aura. In most people, the aura is in a flux of colors and radiates several inches around the body. While the Spiritual Masters and Teachers have great auras that may expand an entire city or more. It is said that the aura of Buddha stretched about 10 miles. Great Masters are capable of extending their aura so far that they can take an entire region under their protection, and at the same time their aura penetrates the aura of all those who live there, thus impregnating them with their luminous and beneficial influences. It is through their aura that they purify the atmosphere around them, illuminating and vivifying all life.

Disciples, or students, should not be content simply to benefit from their Master’s or Teacher’s aura. They too must work on their own aura, and in order to do this they must improve the way they live. They must purify their minds, feelings, and actions.

Its been proven that a group of people meditating with the intention of love and peace will reduce violence in that neighborhood, and depending upon the collective consciousness expand throughout the city or town, and it can also be directed to other areas around the world.

The aura can be compared to the skin which has three basic functions: It protects the physical body, gives it sensitivity, and provides a medium of exchange with the outside world. The aura fulfils the same function and therefore is said to be the skin of the soul. It envelops and protects the soul, gives it sensitivity, and as a medium for cosmic currents of energy, it makes an exchange possible with all other creatures, and even the stars.

A soul’s consciousness forms their body while in the womb. In the same way they form their own aura, which is the emanation of their different bodies, from the physical to the most subtle light; approximately 7 levels depending upon the school of thought. Each light body contributes its own particular qualities. It is the emanation of the light bodies that form the body of Glory to which apostle Paul refers to in his Epistles.

The purpose of our aura is more than pretty lights or reflections of our disposition. It protects our body from negative influences and thought forms. It serves as a radiating beam like a transmitter to contact the angelic realms, our spiritual teachers and guides.

The aura is like a magical instrument. When we have developed our auric field it is beneficial on the realms of minerals, plants, animals and people. Our aura also helps those who have made their transition. The aura of an awakened soul reaches out to other planets, touching the most distant entities.

Let’s try the following: take in a deep breath and exhale. Now rub your hands quickly together. Can you feel the warmth generating from your hands? Rub them again, now slowly separate your hands, an inch, two inches, three inches, and now bring back together. Can you feel the energy between the fingers and palms?

We’re going to do this again with a variation. Again we start with breathing. Now rub your hands quickly together. Now separate a few inches and rotate your hands in a circular motion while saying “Thank you, Thank you.” Can you feel the energy? When practiced you may even see light energy moving between the hands.

This energy is everywhere present, and is known as Chi or Prana energy. We also refer to it as the Life Force, Light Energy, or Healing Energy. When we acknowledge our breath as a Divine Holy Breath - the Breath of God, then it turns from simple oxygen to Chi or Light energy to do good works within us and for others. This energy serves by our intention.

It is thanks to our aura that we can be in contact with celestial entities, which seeing the light and colors from afar will answer our calls. Suppose we are sailing on the ocean at night: if our boat is not lit up, no one will see it. But if we send out signals of light into the darkness, we will be seen immediately and communication will take place. If we do not send out luminous signals from within us, the invisible beings, celestial helpers will not see us. So we must project light by having a strong bright aura field.

The virtues we succeed in developing determine the qualities with which we endow our aura. Every characteristic of someone’s aura - its purity, luminosity, color, power, and scope is determined by the virtues the person has cultivated. So people who primarily have good thoughts, who have faith, hope, goodness, love and purity receive all the riches of nature, and their aura is impenetrable.

Daily practice lifting our consciousness through study, prayer and meditation, and have quality thoughts and good deeds throughout the day will develop their virtues and aura. Serving mankind opens the heart center, and this center is the central radiating power center for the body of light.

I have a guided exercise for us. This practice strengthens the aura. Get comfortable. Close your eyes. Now begin to breathe fully and deeply recognizing every breath as the holy sacred breath of God...

Using your imagination form a sphere of white light slightly above your head. And affirm “I am a living channel for Divine Light.” Now see the sphere strengthen glowing brighter.

Now imagine a shaft of light extending from this sphere, and going straight down through your head to your throat, and see a sphere of white light there, and affirm “I am pure faith.” And, see this sphere glowing brighter.

Now image a shaft of light going straight down to the heart center, and see a sphere of white light there. And affirm: “I am the way, the truth, and the light.” And, again see the sphere glowing brighter.

Now image a shaft of light going straight down from the heart center to the lower pelvic area, and form a sphere of light there. And, affirm “I uphold the universe.” Again see the sphere glowing brighter.

Now image a shaft of light extending straight down to the feet, and form a sphere of white light there. And, affirm: “I am God made manifest.” And see this sphere radiating brighter.

Next with our focus at our feet we inhale as we bring this white light back up the shaft, all the way to the sphere above the head. As you exhale, this light showers down now over the body back to the feet. Now circulate this light in this manner for a few moments...

Now imagine a ribbon of light beginning at your feet spiraling around going up your entire body to the top of your head. Circulate this light in this manner for a few moments totally sealing your entire body in light...

Finally focus some of this light energy back into your heart center. Now image your aura as oval and clear, pulsating with the glow from the heart center and affirm “I am pure radiant love”.

Now open your eyes. Affirm: Today wherever I go, do or say that I am a blessing. So it is!
