“Our Evolving Soul” Rev. Dr. Christine Aug. 8, 2021
Just imagine that once upon a time the dinosaur was God’s ultimate creative expression on our planet, and we could have been those dinosaurs living out our lives here on earth. Then God had a desire to be able to express more creativity, and brought forth humankind. What greater creative expression is yet waiting for us? Today my talk is about Our Evolving Soul.
We think of our bodies evolving, as is believed other animals and species have done through millions of years. Traditional Scientist’s understanding of evolution is all pretty much by accident or survival of the fittest. And, leaving out any consideration of consciousness, or of any divine intelligence as part of the decision making and creating.
I was about 10 when my mother had signed me up for a special summer school session at San Jose State University for elementary school students. This is when I first heard of humans evolving from apes or monkeys. All that just didn’t make any sense to me then, and it still doesn’t. Just for the fact that we still have those species living today. Although, I do understand that other species of animals have evolved. Also, that our physical bodies and mental capacities have changed some throughout the years.
I’m happy to report that with the capabilities of DNA testing and good samples, scientists have been able to confirm that the human body is a separate species of its own. Meaning humans have always been Homo Sapiens. In a future talk, I’ll speak more about our DNA.
Our soul is eternal. Our soul is an individual living expression of God. When I said we could have been the dinosaurs that could be true, or even a rock. But, for now I’m speaking on this expression we’re in as human beings. Please keep in mind that we are spiritual beings experiencing a spiritual world made manifest. We have called this the physical world; meaning of dense matter. In doing so have taken life, the spirit and intelligence out of it, and have disassociated ourselves from our planet and all life.
Our soul’s expression of life right now seems pretty evolved as a species. We’ve been very creative; from making fire to bombs, great structures, automobiles, airplanes, spacecraft, computers, medicine and artificial food.
Then we have discoveries of our surroundings right down to the DNA. But, we’re just tapping the surface of knowing who we really are, what this life is about, and our connection to it all. This is an inward journey.
Recently I heard, that for survival we need to give up the ideas of competition and scarcity. This person said, that these ideas of competing and scarcity started about the 1800s or the industrial age; large corporations and the need for our earth’s resources. He said, that prior to this time we did live in cooperation and in sharing resources in our families and communities.
For humanity to survive on this planet, it needs to go back to these values of cooperation and plenty for all. But, also to see us evolve to even a greater level of working together than ever before, this time in worldwide cooperation and sharing our resources. Resources here is in a broader usage from oil, water, food; to include helpfulness, sharing of intellectual ideas and discoveries, and ways to have a good life for all.
Our true nature is not combative, we’re to be peaceful and compassionate. These other ways of being have to be taught; such as to fight, to compete, to be angry, to be fearful, to be sad or depressed. Children will mimic their parents, what they see on TV, videos, and other people in their lives. They learn so quickly. Some become bully’s at a very young age. None of this makes for a happy child or someday a happy adult.
What does a baby want from the time its born on this planet? Just to be nurtured with love, care and food. We teach our children by our own actions. Their brains are so quickly making those neuron connections. Then it can take years of undoing to re-pattern those neuron connections.
We are unique expressions of God living as this soul. Just think for a moment what our capacities are right now: wisdom, knowledge, understanding, power, life, joy, love. Each of these we can bring forth in to action, to produce, to be creative and share in this world.
We also have our senses; typically we think of sight, touch, smell, hear, and taste. These are great avenues for us to connect with our world. But, each of these are limited in the information they give us depending upon how we perceive or interpret our experience of each.
We also have other senses; they could be considered super senses. Although, they have been known for a long time, the majority of people do not access them. They have been termed as psychic abilities, the sixth sense or extrasensory perception. These allow us to connect to the invisible realms or other dimensions, and to know things without any physical evidence. These senses are naturally available within us, but lie dormant. These are talents that naturally become available when we seek inwardly as in silent meditation. They are for the spiritually mature soul. Otherwise, if not understood can bring havoc in their life, and have very little or no control over when it occurs.
I believe that babies are naturally born with the abilities to see auras - energy fields around people, and hear people’s thoughts and sense their emotions. Then eventually for most children these go dormant as they are taught about this world they live in.
Our evolving soul, is not really making anything new, but is revealing what is already part of our divine pattern. Preparing ourselves to be spiritually mature beings is necessary so as to not misuse our powers, and cause pain and suffering for ourselves or others.
Every heart has brain tissue and neurons, and is like a sending station to our extrasensory perceptions, and gateway to true knowledge. Therefore, it is important to fully awaken and listen to our heart brain. For our heart brain has true knowledge for us to follow. Our head brain is easily swayed by our emotions and controlled by our ego. Where the heart brain stands firmly in its own truth. We call this the “still small voice within” and that is because it usually is a soft whisper that requires our full attention to hear.
Mankind has always connected love to the heart organ. That is because love is the true power of the heart brain, it is what gives life to our entire body. Mankind has spent much time developing its head brain capacity, which was necessary, but now its time to bring the heart brain capacity in balance before we can evolve further with our head brain capacity.
Just think, science tells us that at most mankind has been able to access only about 10% of its head brain and the average person at 5%. I don’t know what percentage of our heart brain capacity we are utilizing, but its probably far less then 5% by the state of this world.
1st Corinthians 13:1-13; says it so well: “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Can we begin to imagine what we would be like, what this world would be like, living as spiritually mature human beings. We would cooperate with each other for the greater good of all life on our planet and else where. I can’t imagine any spiritually advanced civilization wanting a warring and self-serving people out in the universe to spread their way of life.
Therefore, as I have said, we need to unfold and utilize our heart brain capacity so that we can be all that are meant to be. Then we will be given more capabilities as we expand our usage of both of our brains. Eventually we will know that every cell is intelligent, and has capabilities we are not even aware of at this time. If a starfish can grow new legs, and a species of jellyfish can continually reproduce itself, certainly a human must have that ability.
Jesus the Christ told us that we could do like him, and even greater works. Christ Jesus resurrected from the dead, reappearing seemingly whole, and later ascended. Some historical records and legends of other lands, said he was there teaching during this time between the resurrection and ascension. I call that having multi-dimensional capabilities. Being able at will to translate the body to spirit form and back to physical form. How would that be to travel the universe and beyond?
Not just Christ Jesus has been able to do this, master teachers of India, and many others throughout time. Some have been known to bi-locate. Meaning their body is in one place while there soul body visibly manifests across the planet. How about walking on water, and instantly restoring this body to its true natural state of being. Aging as we know it will no longer be, including life spans to thousands of years if so desired. Our purpose for living will be so very different from how we see it now; it will be based on how much good, beauty, love and joy we can bring to this earthly realm.
Money, or other forms of monetary exchange will be obsolete when we can manifest or materialize anything we desire. What is the difference between manifesting and materialization? Manifesting is based on the law of attraction; that is bringing forth something that is already of this 3D world. Materialization is bringing forth out of the invisible ethers to this 3D world. Masters of India such as, Sathya Sai Baba, brought forth objects out of thin air before his visitors eyes. I experienced objects materializing years back when I asked for signs to help me make a life changing career decision. As I see it, these signs were gifts from the universe.
There is so much promise for us, and its all right here within us waiting to be explored, developed and shared. The following are excerpts from a talk given by Nona Brooks at an INTA Congress in the early 1900s. This was published as a collection of talks in the book titled “In the Light of Healing.”
“The natural scientists tell us that when the amoeba moves from the shadow into the sunlight it is because it craves the sunlight. First, the desire, then the endeavor, and then the accomplishment. And again, they say that the water creatures did not first acquire lungs and then live on the land, but they tried to live on land and after repeated trials, developed lungs and accomplished their great aspiration.
But they were not satisfied even then; and so, living on land, the reptiles wanted something more and began to make repeated efforts to fly. They did not have wings and then try to fly, but they tried to fly many times and then developed the wings because of these repeated endeavors to do something that had never been done before.
First the aspiration, then the endeavor; and mind you, aspiration goes out toward something that most frequently has never before been done – certainly not by the one who is endeavoring. First the aspiration; then the repeated endeavor, and then the accomplishment.
There is this great inner urge. Man is ever impelled to find something out, something more wonderful, something more beautiful than he has ever known before; and we, as New Thought people, know that there is no limit to this development, that throughout eternity (and I rejoice that I can say it) there is going to be this constant moving forward, the perceiving of new truth, the embodiment of that truth in one’s consciousness and the application of it in every detail.
Remember in our unfoldment (I am speaking from the process side) that all the time you and I are seeking, all the time we are aspiring and endeavoring, the light, the truth, the knowledge is perfect. You and I see the light partially. It is unfolded within us gradually and that unfoldment within us is the spiritual evolution of man. Having perceived the light, perhaps only to a degree, the next thing is to apply it. Make it a vivid, definite power in our daily experiences.
When we put what we know into action, we shall become so established in the Life and Health of God that we shall not need to spend minutes or hours to help others, but our very presence will purify and heal and bless wherever we go. We shall manifest outwardly the Presence of God. The Invisible and Visible shall be one in us.”
If we can imagine it, then it must be possible. Now this is something to strive towards. Let us affirm: Wherever I am, I am a blessing, and being blest. So it is!
