Unconditional Self Love
by Rev. Christine
Today, I'm speaking on "Unconditional Self Love." Unconditional love, what does this mean. It isn't the human kind of love that has strings and conditions, expects a return, seeks thanks, appreciation, reward, recognition or praise - or is it a love that can come and go. It is a love that knows no anger, guilt, blame, resentment, hate, separation or fear. Unconditional love has no needs because it already has all the love of God. It loves regardless of what another does, "I love you even if you don't love me." Only God loves this way, our Christ within, our God Self. The self I am speaking of today is the self with the capital "S", our God or Christ Self - Unconditional God Love - Unconditional Christ Love. God's love for us is absolutely unconditional. No matter what we do, or who we think we are, God is shining equally in us all, loving us, for God is Love. The only difference is that some of us know this more than others. Yet most are still seeing God's love only in part. Because of this we down grade its love to what we call human love -- a flicker of God's true love. Because we see only a dim flicker of love we believe that is all there is, and so we too reflect only a dim flicker. We can only give that which we have or know we have. I cannot give you food I don't have, and I cannot give food I do not know I have to share. This is also true of the gifts of the spirit, such as peace, love, joy, harmony, wholeness. I must know of it and possess it before I can give it away. I must be love, the very vibration of love - my every thought, feeling and action must abide in love. Then without thought I am giving it away just by being who I am - Love. I cannot withhold it either for it is who I am. The only thing that can withhold love is fear - an element of fear clouding whom I am. It comes in many packages but is due to the belief in separation - separation from God, separation from each other. When we believe God is only out there somewhere in heaven, that our source for good, for love, is out there in the world. Then we have chosen separation by our own ignorance of who we are. Who is our Father? Where is our source? Jesus the Christ told us that the heavenly Father is within us. That it is the heavenly Father's good pleasure to give all to us. We are told in the very beginning of Genesis that all that God created God called Good. Not so so, but very good. This is just as true today. God is still creating this very moment, and is still very good. How do we get to the point where we see this very good, day in and day out, in you in me, and in everyone? From the Bible in Deuteronomy 6:4-5 we are told "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might." In Leviticus 19:18, "...You shall love your neighbor as yourself..." And in like, from Mark 12:29-31, "Jesus said to him, the first of all commandments is, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our god is one Lord; And you must love the Lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind with all your might; this is the first commandment. And the second is like to it, You must love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these." Then in John 13:34 Jesus gave us an example, "A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, that you also love one another. We can only love our neighbor to the extent we love our self. We are already extending to our neighbor how we feel about our self -- that is the problem to having no peace on earth. Most people are so filled with fear, low self esteem, anger, anxiety, lack and separation - that this is what we are giving to each other and perpetuating in this world of ours. That is why we must first love God. When we pray and meditate begin by starting with the love of God. We do this with gratitude and acknowledgment. We acknowledge that God is everywhere present, Omnipresence -- there is only God infinitely everywhere. God is Omnipotent, one power and this power is Good and it is infinitely everywhere. God is Omniscience, one science one knowledge, and it is good and infinitely everywhere. God is Omni-action, one acting, doing, and I am one with God. I am one in God, and God is infinitely within me. There is nothing outside of God. We begin to acknowledge all the wonder of God with deep appreciation and gratitude. Our world, the universe, all of nature, our family and friends, everyone around the world and even our so called enemies. Think how glorious this world and life truly is. Think about all the gifts we receive daily from God, God giving through each other, all our supply - so bountiful is God. Now we extend this love to our self. We acknowledge God within us -- that spark of pure love within our heart. We focus on the good within us, and in every aspect of our life with great appreciation. The more we focus on goodness the more we feel good. The more we focus on love the more we feel loving. We see love expanding as light filling our whole beingness. Mind, Body, and soul. Our mind and heart begins to align in the vibration of love. Our heart is overflowing with love. "My cup runneth over." Now we allow this love to extend out into the world, serving all. Not just a few but everyone. This is how Christ Jesus loved. He saw God in each one of his disciples. Never focused on their seeming frailties and doubts. He saw the good, the potential of God in each. This in turn strengthened them to go out and do the good works of God; to teach, heal and comfort. It is only by allowing the outer world to overshadow us do we lose sight of the good - we go into forgetfulness. When we stay steadfast to our truth within, filled with gratitude, then we see and experience good in the outer world. Always, our source for good, for love, for prosperity, for health comes from within - from God within - Our Christ Self. And, in the book of Acts 17:28 it is affirmed, "For in him we live and move and have our being." I have chosen the following reading by Brent Haskell from the book "Journey Beyond Words" a companion book to the Course in Miracles, "Within your Self is everything. Within your Self is God. Within your Self is all beings. Within your Self is all of Creation. Especially, within your Self is all of what you refer to as your physical universe. All of it, every iota, is contained, completely and fully, within you, just as in the hologram. You are the entire universe. But you are far more than that which you call the heavens, and the cosmos, and the physical universe. That is but one drop in the ocean of creation, one drop in the infinite ocean of experience that is God. The entire universe as you see it, the magnitude of the heavens, the bodies of the earth, the planets, the Sun, the stars, is an infinitesimally small aspect of what you are. Do not be awed by this. Only open your being to the wonder of what your are, and rejoice. So when you love another, you become the other. And in loving another, you become your Self. Everything you see comes from a place deep, deep, within your being, wherein lies the God within you." Let us take a moment now to imagine that you are the tree, you are the squirrel, the star, you are your friend. So realize that God, in loving you, has become you. You are the expansion of God. Your entire world is but the expansion of your Self. And, it is love. Imagine it. Know this is true.
